The Pain of Someday…Why I Refuse to Wait

It's amazing how certain movies impact us in different ways... The Disney movie "UP" crushes me every time…without fail... It's the opening. That montage of Carl and Ellie…two people who loved each other deeply…dreaming about adventure…waiting until the time was right…and then one day…it wasn't. Because it's not a story about growing old...it's a story about waiting too long. She Never Got to Go They had dreams...plans...maps...notes...a whole world ahead of them. But then life kept happening…the money wasn't there…other priorities took over…things broke…things changed… She never got to go. The Pain of Someday Men don't fear aging...we fear unlived life. We fear looking back and realizing we traded purpose for comfort…clarity for distraction…calling for convenience. Someday is the most expensive word in the language. Someday I'll take that trip. Someday I'll start that business. Someday I'll write that book. But someday never shows up with a date. The Foxhole Truth Watching those movies reminded me that the clock isn't my enemy...wasting it is. Life doesn't guarantee later...it only guarantees now. The foxhole isn't where you hide...it's where you decide. I Refuse to Wait I'm not Carl...and Chantale isn't Ellie. We still have time. We still have fire. We still have dreams that aren't written in a scrapbook…they're still alive. So here's my line in the sand…I refuse to wait. I refuse to leave my adventures on paper. Time is not done with me...I'm not done with time. By Chris Errington
